About Z.O.N.G.

Andy Zong Rui Liu (Z.O.N.G.) is a musician based in Toronto, Canada. He began his musical journey at the age of 3, and continues to be a student of music today. Z.O.N.G. is a classically trained pianist, under the tutelage of Lily Deng and Alla Zeynalova throughout his earlier years. Z.O.N.G. received his first award at the age of 5, earning second place in a piano competition where other contestants were almost double his age. In his teenage years, Z.O.N.G. attended the esteemed Arts Unionville (Arts York) program for piano performance in high school, where he continued to pursue his passion for music. It was at Arts Unionville where Z.O.N.G. also developed his passion for singing, consequently also becoming an unofficial member of the vocal program as a tenor vocalist. It was also at Arts Unionville where he learned the skills of collaboration with others, having to accompany other instrumentalists during recitals and performances.

In 2022, Z.O.N.G. decided to give music production a shot for the first time. He produced W.H.E.R.E. under the pseudonym A.N.D.Y. and released his track on SoundCloud and YouTube. It was this experience where he began slowly developing a passion for creating original music. In late 2022, Z.O.N.G. decided to purchase FL Studios and began making hip-hop and RnB beats for fun, with having over 200 beats in his catalog throughout the years. In 2025, Z.O.N.G. decided to take his production career to the next level and joined the Independent Music Production (IMP) program at Seneca Polytechnic, under the instructions of many long-time Canadian and U.S. industry professionals. It is at Seneca where Z.O.N.G. is understanding more advanced mixing skills, songwriting skills, recording skills, and the skills to navigate through the business of music. Z.O.N.G. is currently attending the IMP program, projected to graduate in August of 2026.

Z.O.N.G.’s music is inspired by many different artists, therefore the genres of his music have a wide range of contrasting elements. Z.O.N.G. is inspired by hip-hop artists like Drake, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole; RnB artists like Alicia Keys, Daniel Caesar, KeShi, Rihanna, the Weeknd; pop artists like Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, JJ Lin, Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson; Soul artists like Donny Hathaway, Etta James, Nina Simone, Ray Charles; and film composers such as Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Ludwig Göransson.
